Gifts for the Christ Child (GFCC) takes place every year during the Advent and Christmas seasons at St. Michael the Archangel. Gifts for the Christ Child is more commonly thought of as the “giving trees” that you see in the Narthex each year. GFCC does not provide Christmas presents for those less fortunate, but much needed everyday essentials. These items include baby formula, diapers, socks, underwear, warm clothes, household items, cleaning supplies and gift cards that can be used to buy gas and groceries. This project benefits Angels of Grace Family Services Center and Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas Refugee Program.
Angels of Grace provides services to the less fortunate of their community, including teen moms, by providing guidance and support through child care. This support is essential so the teen moms can continue their education and learn parenting skills.
The Catholic Charities Refugee program helps refugees start their households with much needed supplies. They also support them with language programs and teach them to support themselves and their families with the skills and knowledge they already possess.
Last year, St. Michael donated over $9,000 worth of these everyday essentials! Thank you all so much!
