Who Are the American Heritage Girls?
It is more than just another activity! It is a faith-based, girl-only, Scout-like program where the girls participate in badge programs, church service projects, outdoor and indoor fun.
What do you do?
The AHG motto is faith, service and fun.
Faith
Every year we work on a Faith Badge that incorporates our Catholic values into the badge requirements.
ServiceSt Michael is a welcoming community for the girls to learn to serve others. They help the Knights of Columbus at the Lenten Fish Fry. The money we raise goes to troop costs and the Honduras girls orphanage mission - it's our "Girls helping girls" project. The girls are very proud of making a difference, and LOVE the service projects!
Fun
We also have fun earning badges. As a Heritage Girl, they will learn the AHG Oath, and what it means - to love God, cherish their family, honor their country and serve in their community.
When do you meet?
We are a multi-age troop (K-5). Pathfinders (Kindergarten), Tenderhearts (Grades 1, 2 & 3), and Explorers (Grades 4 & 5) meet together once a month, usually on a Friday or a SMA day off.Who organizes this?
We are an all volunteer group. By volunteering we help shape the experience for our daughters, meet her friends, introduce her to older girls in her school, and teach her the value of helping others. The more help we have the better the experiences for the girls.
