18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
- Matthew 28:18-20, "The Great Commission"
What does it mean to evangelize?
It means to speak about someone you love. I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I love being with my family, I love my wife. People who know me, know these things about me. I talk about all of them, I have pictures of my family around, it is no secret.
I also love Jesus and just like PB&J sandwiches, my family, my wife, etc......it is no secret to those around me. Everyday, I spend time with Jesus. I crave this time with our Lord so it isn't something I do, its a relationship that enlivens everything I am. Evangelization is all about a way of life......it starts with prayer which is spending time with Jesus. Anyone can do this, once you start, you too will crave this time. Eventually, you will tell people about this experience in both word and deed.
It's no secret that evangelization can be intimidating. But it is the most worthwhile thing we can do for ourselves and for others. We have these opportunities for evangelization:
