When unexpected circumstances arise, end of life for as loved one nears, or when making your own preparations, there can be some confusion or questions as to moral implications in any decision regarding healthcare or proper proceedings in the Catholic Church. If you find yourself in this place, please do not hesitate to contact your pastor. They are happy to pray and walk you through any tough decision-making process. Established in 1972, the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) "conducts research, consulatation, publishing and education to promote human dignity in health care and the life sciences, and derives its mesage directly from the teachings of the Catholic Church." The NCBC website provides resources that include seminars, individual consultation, multiple educational documents, answers to frequently asked questions etc. One of their most useful resources is their EMERGENCY BIOETHICS LINE (215-877-2660) with a 24/7 ethicist available to answer your questions.
