Caring for the orphan is a demand from the Gospel. We must open our hearts to these vulnerable children as OUR children. Our parish can live the corporal works of mercy through foster care - "feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the homeless ... give alms to the poor" - by raising up more foster families and increasing our support to them. Even if you are not able to foster at this time, there are many other ways to help!
Care Communities help bring about a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable children by:
Serving foster & adoptive families, and biological families in crisis
Ministering to families and meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
Advocating on behalf of families and vulnerable children

God our Father, through the loving sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ, you have given a home to us and all the forsaken. Give us the eyes of Christ to see the vulnerable children and families in our midst. Give us hearts that break for what breaks the heart of Jesus. Encouraged by the example of St. Joseph, foster father of the Lord, enflame us with the compassion of your Holy Spirit to make our homes and parishes places of love, support and protection for kids in crisis and their families.
