Our Vision: To bring HOPE and SOLACE to each resident of the Hogar de Niñas and Hogar de Ancianos and to offer support for those we can in the community of Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras.
Who We Serve: Our committee was formed in 2004, with our first trip following in 2005. We serve all who live and work in the Hogar de Niñas (home for girls) and Hogar de Ancianos (home for the elderly) in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras.
What We Do: We provide assistance to each home in several ways:
Funding: Our project is funded SOLELY through special collections – one each fall parish-wide and an additional collection each winter for our parish children to participate and collect funds for education.
Parish Trips: Our parishioners’ travel to Honduras to live in solidarity with the residents of each home and to offer support to show Christ’s unconditional love for all people. (Travelers pay all expenses.) For more information about St. Michael Mission trips, check out the documents to the left.
Parish Support: In addition to financial support, we engage and look for opportunities for our parishioners to interact with those we serve in Honduras. Our parish children participate in a pen pal program. We host an annual appreciation night during Lent. Collections of various needed items such as books, school supplies, and clothing are held throughout the year.
How Can I Help: Our project relies solely on the volunteers from our PARISH. Our committee meets monthly to plan and coordinate all events. All parishioners are welcome to attend meetings and help.
