The pipe organ is a "thing" in popular culture, linking many communities within our secular culture to a millennium-old tradition in our Church. Did you there is a weekly public radio program dedicated to the pipe organ and its music? "Pipedreams" with host Michael Barone can be heard each Sunday at 8:00 p.m. in the Kansas City area on Classical KC 91.9 and on public radio stations throughout the nation. "Pipedreams" can also be heard on demand at pipedreams.org.
The University of Kansas will be hosting three world-class organists during the next month. Treat yourself to a preview of the kinds of things we will someday host here at St. Michael!
The pipe organ is a "thing" in popular culture, linking many communities within our secular culture to a millennium-old tradition in our Church. While our new organ continues to be built in Minnesota, the next few "Pipeline Organ Updates" will focus on some of the times, places, and ways we can experience the organ and its nearly infinite variety of expressions. Here's a local tradition: An annual Superbowl Sunday organ concert with Jan Kraybill!
Reminder: Bring your frozen turkey or cash donation or canned food item this weekend. Look for the Catholic Charities truck! We'll have a pancake breakfast as well - join us!
I was skeptical about a guy’s weekend retreat. I thought that was only for girls and kids. Man, was I wrong! What a great spiritual and fellowship experience. I can't recommend attending a CRHP renewal weekend highly enough. Do it for yourself. Do it for your family.
"CRHP?" I always thought to myself, "I don't need to do that, I go to church every Sunday. Besides, who has the time?" Well, I'm glad I finally made the time. I needed it much more than I ever knew. I got far more from it than I ever could've imagined. Spiritual acuity - the killer app.
I have always attended church and checked the box on my spiritual life. I now am realizing what I have been missing in my faith life. CRHP has opened the door for me. The transformation for me has been such a blessing in my life. CRHP is a wonderful gift for yourself and for your family.
I had been coasting in my faith journey for years--never losing the faith but also failing to completely embrace it. As a new parishioner at St. Michael's, I decided to attend CRHP to add a Godly spark to my life and meet some like-minded men. CRHP offered both in spades; my resolve to embrace my Catholic faith was fully renewed, and I took that journey with a team of like-minded, welcoming, and friendly men who are now truly my brothers in Christ. CRHP has helped me improve my relationship with God and become a better husband, father, and member of the community.
