Remember your excitement as a child when you received brand new supplies and clothes for the upcoming school year? Here’s your chance to help a child start off the school year in a positive way! This service project is led by Daniel Jacobs, a local Kansas Citian who also heads up the Red Bag Christmas Adopt a Child program. The children who receive these school supplies most often do not have other resources for new supplies or clothes. Many of these children would "fall through the cracks" without the support of this program.
Stop by the Green Bag table after Mass to sign up to purchase school supplies for an individual child. We will give you a list of the needed supplies. Donations of new miscellaneous supplies and backpacks are also welcome. Bags will be due in July.
St. Michael is a big part of this local Kansas City service project and we are taking 125 children this year. This is a great community service project for individual families and youth groups. We realize this is summer and people are away on vacation so if you are out of town during the weekend of mass sign ups but would still like to adopt a child or help in any way please contact Lisa Wright or Roseanne Corley. Thanks in advance for your continued generosity!
Adoption weekend is Nov 19th and 20th.
Stop by the tables after mass to adopt a child for Christmas.
This program provides needy children in the Kansas City area with a Christmas they would not otherwise have.Parishioners have the opportunity to adopt a child and purchase items from their wish list, as well as essential items such as clothing, shoes, and coats.
In the past, St. Michael has adopted over 125 children and has been one of the largest contributors to this program. Hopefully, we can keep that tradition going. If you would like to adopt a child early please see our contact information below.
You can either adopt a full child by committing to purchase all of the items on the list or you can partially adopt a child by selecting one or more items to purchase from a specific child's list. We would also encourage groups to adopt a child this year. Religious Ed. classes, sports teams, boy scout/girl scout troops, church ministries, multiple families, etc.
